Now that you're ready to work on a client website, it's good to familiarize yourself with all the sections within your client dashboard. In this guide, we'll walk you through what each tab does, and how that can help you navigate and start building.
Once you access your client's control panel, you'll be greeted by the dashboard. Here, you'll see high-level information such as notifications, form submissions, email campaigns, blog comments, and purchases. Above the dash are the main menu tabs. The "Builder Tab" is where you will build and control pages.
Here you can choose your website template, change fonts and colors, and design your page content.
Start by selecting a template under the "Design" submenu.
Although Zibster sites are fully customizable, templates have been constructed to illustrate some of the many layouts possible, and include pre-built color schemes to get you started. You can customize just about everything in a template – what you are really choosing here is the menu layout and logo position.
When you choose a template, the website will populate pages and the pre-selected blocks and content for you to customize with the client's content.
You can change templates at any time by returning to the Design menu and saving a new design.
Once you've selected your template, you're ready to start building! Head over to the "Pages" tab to edit your pages and content.
The drag & drop builder allows you to add, organize, and edit blocks within each page. You can add and organize pages on the left to create new pages, drop-downs, and external links.
The 3 circle icons enable you to duplicate pages, access SEO data, and edit page settings. Pages can also be password protected, hidden, or disabled.
The block menu shows you all of the different kinds of elements you can add to each page. Select a block to add it to the page, then click into the block to further customize it.
Clicking into each block will reveal all of the options available to customize the content, layout, and styling of the block.
Change the background, see layouts, upload images, add content, edit spacing, etc.
The Zibster builder automatically creates SEO Page Titles & Descriptions based on the content on that page. You can edit the SEO data on any page by clicking into the SEO settings (the gray circle icon that looks like a chart graph).
This is also where you can add CSS or JS to a single page.
To apply CSS/JS globally to the entire website, visit BUILDER > DESIGN > CSS/JS and add your code there.
In the Ecommerce section, you can create products or services to sell online.
Each product or service can be customized with images, options, and product specs.
There are settings within the Ecommerce section to configure your preferred payment processing merchant, add inventory, set up taxes, and create invoices.
Your Ecommerce tab also includes the ability for your clients to run sales and stock reports by month or by each year.
The Blog section is where you can add and publish new blog posts.
Adding a blog PAGE to the builder will let you configure how blogs took and function on the website. But when it's time to publish a new post, head to the BLOG tab on the top bar to access the publishing platform.
Creating a blog is easy – just add titles, text, and images just like you would on a page in the Zibster page builder.
Posts can be tagged and titled how you like, then published or scheduled for future publishing.
Tags are especially useful if you can tot have multiple blog CATEGORIES appear on different pages.
Zibster Podcast clients, for example, get a lot of mileage out of this strategy, which makes managing all of their different content easy while keeping it in one place.
The Free Pizza Podcast, for example, publishes each Podcast as a "blog" – so every episode can load automatically without having to create a brand new page or edit any blocks whenever they release an episode.
BUT! They also run a "regular old blog" with text interviews and articles.
They can separate these posts using tags – configuring it so that only "PODCAST" tagged posts load on the PODCAST page, and "BLOG" tagged posts load on the BLOG.
Basically, they are able to run two blogs on one website. Pretty clever, and easy to manage.
Forms are critical to every website.
From basic contact forms to more advanced order forms or booking forms, Zibster allows you to easily construct custom forms for inquiries, lead generation, digital contracts, or even accepting payment.
Click "NEW FORM" and you'll see a bank of pre-built form templates to get you started. You can customize the fields and design using the options on each form. You can also configure thank you settings and email options for each form.
Once a form is created, it can be sent directly via email, shared on social media, or you can embed the form in a page using a FORM BLOCK in the Zibster BUILDER.
The Zibster Platforms includes a CRM, or customer database which captures information about customer interactions.
Whenever someone makes a purchase, completes a form, or otherwise provides their data, it is saved within the Contacts tab. Your client can also import or export customer data via CSV.
In the marketing tab, you have many options to create campaigns for emails, landing pages, pop-ups, and sticky banners.
The Email Marketing builder includes templates to get you started. Like always, a drag & drop builder makes it easy to customize and build. You can send campaigns to everyone in your contact list, or just targeted groups. With Zibster, you get 100 free emails to send to each month, with upgrades available if you want to send more.
Each email also doubles as a Landing Page. Just grab the static page link to share with individuals or on social media. This works great for making pages to highlight sales, special events, and offers.
Pop-Ups can engage customers right away when they first arrive to the website or on a targeted webpage. We have layout styles to start with that you can customize as you like.
Sticky Banners are another way to discreetly advertise on your website. Sticky banners stick to either the top or bottom of a website and you can promote what you like in those bars and link to where you want them to go!
